One of Joscelyn’s lithographs has been reproduced in The Image of the Black in Western Art, Volume V edited by David Bindman and Henry Louis Gates, and published by Harvard University Press. Gates discusses the work relative to Gardner’s postcolonial engagement with her identity as a white Creole female artist who works with black representation through the context of a Caribbean history of slavery.
