j o s c e l y n g a r d n e r : n e w s: Public collection in Amsterdam acquires Gardner's work

In January 2014, Joscelyn's suite of 13 lithographs, Creole Portraits III: "bringing down the flowers…", was acquired by Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam. The work has many links to the Netherlands including its resonance with the work of the entomologist and artist Maria Sybilla Merian whose beautifully illustrated 1705 natural history publication, Metamorphosis Insectorum Surinamensium, published after her residence in Surinam, inspired the series.
