Joscelyn
returned to Barbados in February to record the sound tracks for her upcoming
video project, omi ebora. Drawing on NourbeSe Philip’s poem Zong!, this
multimedia work attempts to lift the poet’s words from the page and visually
submerge them in water as well as imbuing them with life through haunting
sound. The sound recording was done at
Toby Armstrong’s Bridgetown sound studio with local actors Laura Lin Hutchinson
and Na La voicing the multiple tracks. The visuals for this project are being
created entirely through digital animation by Chapin Studios in London Ontario.
